Long before refrigeration, the fishing communities of Spain and Portugal perfected the art of preserving the sea's most delicate treasures in cans. What started as practical necessity became an art form: mussels in piquant escabeche, razor shells (navajas) packed at their freshest, the briny sweetness of the Atlantic sealed inside the tin.

Our shellfish selection focuses on the very best of this tradition. Cantara Mussels in Pickled Sauce Escabeche brings the bright, vinegary punch of a classic Spanish tapas bar — plump Galician mussels in a sauce balanced with onion, paprika and bay leaf. Casa Santona Razor Shells (Navajas al Natural) showcases razor clams in their purest form, preserved at the moment they were caught — no oil, no sauce, just clean Atlantic flavour.

How to enjoy them. Open the tin straight from the pantry. Serve mussels chilled with crusty bread and a glass of Albariño; pile razor shells onto crackers with a drizzle of their own juice and a squeeze of lemon. Both also shine tossed through warm pasta, folded into rice, or built into a Mediterranean tin board.
